In addition to overseeing the Local, Susan not only specializes in Portraits but also paints Landscapes, large works with textiles and beads, sculpting, creates healing stone jewelry and still finds time to play accordion in two local bands The ToneShifters and Blonde Furniture!

Attending the Lyme Academy of Fine Arts from 1982 -1987 she studied portrait and figure painting with Aaron Shikler, figure sculpture with Lacy de Gerendayand Norman Legassi and portrait sculpture with Elizabeth Gordon Chandler. She received a  double major BA from Connecticut College in New London, CT in 2004 in Studio Art and Art History. A steady commissioned artist since 1986 Susan is currently taking commissions as well as preparing to offer several painting classes beginning in March.
